Doctor Who - The Angels Take Manhattan

Wow, that was exciting, wasn't it? I can't believe that the (first half) of the season is over already. It's had thrills and spills aplenty, lots of big ideas and bold brush strokes. Yes, there were plot holes aplenty and a few loose ends, which may or may not be tied up in due course, but let's look to the future. The amazing Oswin Oswald (or is that Clara the Dalek?). Who knows how they are going to sort that one out. One thing is for sure though, Jenna Louise Coleman is going to feel right at home in the Tardis, and I'm sure that the Eleventh Doctor is in for a bumpy ride...

Doctor Who - Day of the Moon

Search Amazon.com for doctor who series 6So the second title of series 6 is Day of the Moon. It's a continuation from episode 1 - the Impossible Astronaut, and it looks like it's going to be a hell of a story. Steven Moffat said that he wanted the series finale to be shifted to the beginning of the series, rather than the end, in order to get people gripped.

Well, it's certainly got me interested! I'll be writing a full review after the episode has been televised, but I thought it would be fun to write a little preview to see what we know already.

So somebody dies. River, The Doctor, Rory or Amy. Except, River died back in series 4 with David Tennant, so it can't be her... The Doctor..? Well, yes I suppose it could be him, but he tends to regenerate when he's a bit under the weather, so it's doubtful that Matt Smith is going anywhere for a while... Rory? If so, it's a bit Deja-vu, as he died three times last year alone... And then there's Amy. hmm.... no reason why she can't die I suppose...

So here's my thoughts... while someone may die, I have a feeling that they may hang around for a while... You know, like Owen in Torchwood. I was listening to a few of the old Eighth Doctor & Lucie miller stories for the past couple of weeks, and I'm starting to wonder if perhaps the new series isn't 'borrowing' from Big Finishes 'Auntie Pat' saga. After all, Moff did mention a two part story involving shape changing aliens... Probably completely wrong, but time will tell.

Looking forward to this season immensely, can't wait to see where the Tardis takes them next...

Doctor Who: To the Death

Doctor Who to the Death CD (Dr Who Big Finish)Doctor Who : To the Death

Good grief, a lot happens in this audio. If you've been following the adventures of the Doctor and Lucie Miller, you'll know it's been a bit of a rollercoaster of late. This is the final audio from the fourth season and is a cracking season finale. Not only do we have the Daleks (which I'm finding a bit overused of late if i'm honest), we have the far more interesting Meddling Monk & Tamsin as well as the Doctor's granddaughter Susan & great grandson Alex.

I can't say much more about the tale without revealing too much, but suffice to say, this is a bit of a turning point for the Eighth Doctor. If you've been at odds with how the Eighth Doctor could press the button to end the time war, then a pointer (as alluded to in the 2005 tv series), you start to feel with this adventure that you can see where he's heading. And it's quite a dark place.

Excellent stuff, highly enjoyable and well done to Paul McGann, Graeme Garden & Sheridan Smith for making this such a memorable season finale!
