New Start Wars Films Annouced as Lucas Film joins with Disney
So, it looks like we're gonna get Star Wars episodes 7,8&9 after all. I don't really know how I feel about the prospect to be honest. The prequels were dire/average at best, and I don't really see what can be done AFTER the original trilogy.
Lucas has gone on record as not being involved in the stories, which is a surprise to say the least, surely he has a sketchy vision of where the story would lead to next (as he did with the prequels). One things for sure, the franchise keeps on rolling on and on. Just in time for a brand new generation of fans to become hooked on the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo.
And if they do turn out dreadful, well us oldies still have the original trilogy to keep us company. Here's hoping they get it right.

Prince releases new track - RnR Affair
So, after 2 years of near silence, Prince has decided to release a new song. If you're not familiar with Prince's more recent work, such as the UK Newspaper freebie '20Ten', then you'll probably not know that he's been on a bit of a MPLSound retro vibe for the last few years. This song takes him back into the direction of rock/pop. It's nice enough to sing along to, but it doesn't have a chorus. Am I the only one who finds this weird?
Lack of chorus aside though, the song bobs along nicely. It's clearly an autobiographical account of how he hooked up with latest protegé Andy Allo, who releases her own album 'Superconducter' any time now. From the snippets, Prince is all over that album like a rash, which is nice, but am I the only one who just wants him to get his backside back in the studio and work on some new freaky funk material. We know he's capable of it. come on Prince... show us how it's done ;)

Doctor Who - The Angels Take Manhattan
Wow, that was exciting, wasn't it? I can't believe that the (first half) of the season is over already. It's had thrills and spills aplenty, lots of big ideas and bold brush strokes.
Yes, there were plot holes aplenty and a few loose ends, which may or may not be tied up in due course, but let's look to the future. The amazing Oswin Oswald (or is that Clara the Dalek?).
Who knows how they are going to sort that one out. One thing is for sure though, Jenna Louise Coleman is going to feel right at home in the Tardis, and I'm sure that the Eleventh Doctor is in for a bumpy ride...

Brand new Doctor Who mini episode on tomorrow night's Children In Need
Hurrah, a mini-episode unlike any other, apparently. From the publicity stills, we're talking a direct-to-camera chat by Matt Smith regardng the auction of the eleventh Doctor's costume.
So not unlike anything we've seen before then. But still, a little bit of fun and an extra bonus for the fans, so bring it on! Plus it's for a good cause, so dig deep if you enjoy.
Also, watch out for the first scene from the 2011 Christmas Special, which will also be featured in this year's Children in Need appeal. It's the first glimpse we'll get, and I for one, can't wait.

Doctor Who Movie Announced
So, a new Doctor Who movie has been announced as in development. What will this mean for the television series? Who knows. Will the show be able to co-exist with a rebooted movie version as it did back in the sixties? Only time will tell, we guess.
The American producer has expressed that changes are required to make the format work, and it will most likely have a back to basics approach. Let's hope that this big-budget venture doesn't jeapordise the series that's shortly to become 50 years old and has kept the same continuity whilst constantly refreshing and regenerating more often than the lead character.

Doctor Who - The Doctor's Wife
Well what can I say? A fantastic episode of Doctor Who by the legendary Neil Gaiman. Who'd have guessed he was just a nerd? :) there were continuity references galore, from the entire history of the series, even from BEFORE the series began.
Wonderfully acted throughout and incredibly creepy in places, this really did feel like event TV. A couple more rooms being glimpsed wouldn't have gone amiss, but other than that budget constraint, it was fantastic.
I even got a little teary-eyed when Idris said 'Hello' at the end. wonderful.
